According to an official statement issued by the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office, the state has been recording a steady rise in the number of cases, especially in Mumbai and some other cities in the state.
According to the Maharashtra CMO, in the virtual meeting with the senior officials of the Maharashtra government, including bureaucrats and discussed measures to control the spread of COVID-19.
It may be noted that Maharashtra recorded 4,205 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. The development comes a day after the state recorded the 5000-cases mark. According to the state health department, Mumbai recorded 1,898 infections on Friday. The number of active COVID-19 infections has gone past 25000.
The number of COVID-19 cases across the country has witnessed a spike in the recent past. On Friday, the country recorded 17,336 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours as compared to the 13,313 on Thursday.
13,029 people recovered in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 4,27,49,056 at the rate of 98.59 per cent.
