When the governor abruptly removed the only two doctors, both women, from the Health Care Authority board, the Oklahoma State Medical Association bought advertisements in local newspapers so 200 female physicians could call for their peers to be represented on the board. 

When a group of conservative lawmakers were calling for the Oklahoma Legislature to pass legislation in a special session to block businesses from implementing COVID-19 vaccine mandates, the state medical association aired television commercials calling the politicians “out of control and out of their lane.”
