WASHINGTON, D.C. — The spread of COVID-19 in the nation’s capital is reaching Oregon today.

The office of U.S. Senator Ron Wyden says Oregon’s senior U.S. Senator has the virus.  Today his office issued the following statement about Senator Wyden testing positive for COVID-19:

“As part of routine testing, Senator Wyden tested positive today for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and experiencing minor symptoms. He is in Washington, D.C. and working from his residence while following CDC guidance to quarantine.”

The Biden Administration says today U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris also has tested positive for COVID-19.  Neither President Joe Biden nor first lady Jill Biden was considered a “close contact” of Harris in recent days. The White House said Tuesday Harris tested positive with both rapid and PCR tests, and it said she “has exhibited no symptoms.  Harris will isolate at her residence but continue to work remotely and would only return to the White House once she tests negative for the virus.
