Today, the White House released a letter saying President Biden has tested negative twice since Tuesday night for the coronavirus and is ending a period of strict isolation. He is scheduled to appear in the Rose Garden to deliver remarks later Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committee is holding a high-profile hearing on the role of the firearms industry in the U.S. gun violence epidemic following the release of a report that said five gun manufacturers collected more than $1 billion over the last decade from the sale of military-style assault weapons to civilians.
The Senate is poised to pass legislation that would invest $280 billion in science and technology innovation, including $52 billion for subsidies for domestic semiconductor manufacturers. The so-called chips bill has been the subject of some drama between the two chambers but could land on Biden’s desk by the end of the week after House passage, giving Democrats something to celebrate.

This just in: Biden tests negative for the coronavirus, is ending strict isolation
President Biden has tested negative twice since Tuesday night for the coronavirus and is ending a period of strict isolation, White House physician Kevin O’Connor said in a memo released Wednesday morning.
“His symptoms have been steadily improving, and are almost completely resolved,” O’Connor said, relaying that Biden had tested negative Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and does not have a fever.
“Given these reassuring factors, the President will discontinue his strict isolation measures,” O’Connor said.
Meanwhile, the White House said Biden would deliver remarks at 11:30 a.m. in the Rose Garden of the White House. The topic of the address was not mentioned.
